HISTORY OF DIGIPEN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY
1988 – Established computer simulation and animation company in Vancouver, Canada.
1990 – Opened the 3D computer animation course.
1990 – Started a video game programming course in collaboration with Nintendo America.
1994 – Opened a two-year degree program in 2D and 3D video game programming.
1996 – Approved by HECB for the four-year Computer Science Degree in Real-Time Interactive Simulation.
1998 – Moved the main campus to Redmond, WA.
2002 – USA certified by the accreditation committee of Career School and Colleges (ACCSC).
2004 – Established two undergraduate programs: Computer Engineering, Digital Art and Animation, and one graduate program: Computer Science.
2007 – Made an agreement for a dual degree program with Keimyung University in Korea.
2008 – Established two undergraduate programs: Computer Science and Game Design.
2008 – Established the first overseas campus by signing a partnership with the Singapore Economic Development Board.
2010 – Established the first European campus in Bilbao, Spain.
2015 – Established Singapore DigiPen Game Studio (DGS).
2019 – Worked with Game Changers, an apprenticeship program aimed at helping entrepreneurial individuals launch their own indie game start-ups in Saudi Arabia.
