1. I'm really(x2) poor at drawing, but I'm interested in game programming/making. Is it improper to study to DigiPen?

Our program is not for the people who wants to be the game designer. Computer Science in Realtime Interactive simulation let students know how to build the project from scratch and focusing on the actual game model, idea and the effect you can add for offering people the enjoyable games and projects.
If your goal is to be a game designer, you can change your major to Computer Science in Game Design when you transfer to the US campus.

저희 프로그램은 게임디자이너가 되기위한 학생을 위한 프로그램이 아닙니다. 실시간 상호작용 시뮬레이션 컴퓨터과학이라는 학위는 아무것도 없는 상태에서 프로젝트를 스스로 제작해보며, 게임 모델, 아이디어 그리고 어떻게 사람들이 즐길만한 게임을 제공할 것인가에 초점이 맞춰져 있ㅅ흡니다. 만약 게임디자이너가 꿈이라면, 학생은 미국으로 이동하면서 게임디자인 컴퓨터 과학으로 전과가 가능합니다. (첫 2 년은 두과정의 매우 비슷합니다.)

2. What is the difference between game-mobile engineering?

DigiPen Game Engineering is to help students build their project without using any commercial program, which means students are not allowed to use any game engine such as Unity and Unreal. Instead, they will build their game engine based on C, C+ programming language. Once you know how the program works, it's easier to learn any other programming language on your own.

디지펜게임공학전공은 학생들에게 어떤 상용화되어있는 프로그램을 사용하지 않고 프로젝트를 제작할 수 있도록 도와줍니다. 그 의미는 학생들이 유니티 혹은 언리얼과 같은 게임엔진을 사용할 수 없으며 대신에 그들이 배운 C, C++에 기초한 게임엔진을 스스로 제작하여 게임을 완성시켜야한다는 의미입니다. 한번 프로그램이 어떻게 작동하는지 알게되면, 어떠한 프로그램 언어도 혼자서 손쉽게 배울 수 있습니다.
 
3. I heard you slept for four hours when I entered school. Is that serious?

I would say it depends on your attitude about this program. If you want to finish this course on time within 9-semester, you need to spend most of your day to study. Since we also have the project class, you need to prepare the presentation in English and participate in a lot of team meeting for that. If you think this program is as same as other programs in Korea, it's totally not right. 

이는 학생이 이 프로그램을 임하는 태도에 따라 달라지지 않을까 합니다. 만약 본인이 이 과정은 9학기안에 제대로 끝내고 싶다면, 대부분의 시간을 공부하는데 할애해야 할 것입니다. 또한 프로젝트 수업이 있기 때문에, 영어로 프레젠테이션도 준비해야하며, 이를 위해 팀미팅 또한 자주 가지게 될 것입니다. 만약에 이 프로그램을 한국에 보통 학과들과 비교한다면, 아마 다르게 느끼실겁니다.

4. Is it possible for me to go to the US or Singapore to get a job abroad?

Yes, that's possible. Some students graduated from this program have already got the job in the US.  They work for Microsoft Co. headquarters, VR company, and game studio.

네, 가능합니다. 몇몇 학생들은 이미 미국에서 취업을 했습니다. 현재 학생들은 마이크로소프트 본사, VR회사 그리고 게임스튜디오에서 취업하여 있습니다.
5. Is it only about 2.5 years that I receive a scholarship when I get a scholarship?

It depends which scholarship you are able to achieve.
For example, if you get a Visa Scholar Scholarship, you won't pay any tuition for the first 2.5 years, and when you go to the US, you will get 30,000USD and a round trip flight ticket. There is, however, certain credits you need to obtain, which is higher than 3.5.

어떤 장학금을 받느냐에 따라 다른 대답이 될 것 같습니다.
예를 들어, 비사스칼라 장학금을 받는다면, 본인은 2.5년 동안 학비 면제, 미국으로 이동시 미화 30,000 USD 외 왕복항공료가 제공됩니다. 그러나 이를 유지하기 위해 학점 3.5점 이상을 유지해야합니다.
 
6. What should I prepare before going to college?

Based on the previous students' opinion, they think learning C programming is a lot helpful to follow the class, but obviously, English ability is the most important thing to proceed the program since all the major courses should be offered only in English.
If you have some time before coming to this school, please learn how to communicate someone in English, so that you can ask some questions to the professor.

이전 학생들에 의견에 의하면, C언어를 공부해 온 것이 수업을 따라가기에 많은 도움이 되었다고 합니다. 그러나 모든 중요과정이 영어로 진행되기에 확실히 영어능력이 프로그램을 진행하기에 가장 중요합니다.
만약 학교로 진학 전에 시간이 있다면, 교수님께 질문을 할수있도록 영어로 소통하는 법을 배우시길 추천드립니다.
 

7. Can you tell me the pros and cons about the Digipen?

Pros:
- Good education system and a broad job opportunity
- Relatively affordable tuition comparing to go to college directly to the US
- Learning the practical knowledge   

- 좋은 교육시스템과 폭넓은 취업 기회
- 미국으로 유학하는 것에 비해 상대적으로 저렴한 학비
- 실용적 지식 습득


Cons:
- No typical student's life in Korea
- Spending much time to study
- Relatively expensive tuition comparing to schools in Korea

- 대학생활의 낭만이 없음
- 공부하는 데 많은 시간 소요
- 한국에 대학 등록금에 비해 상대적으로 비싼 학비
